University High wants to chart its own path to success

The Ferndale School District has said "thanks but no thanks" to a school improvement grant for University High, its very successful college-prep charter school. That will cost the district some needed dollars, but it may be worth it to preserve success. Superintendent Gary Meier is continuing to make the case that to qualify for the grant, he would be required to make changes that likely would make the school less successful.
