Horry school board to review book policy after flap over

The topic of reading lists and appropriateness also was raised at the board meeting. School reading lists vary by age group and subject levels, and there are books that are assigned, as well as others from which students have some choice in their selections. Establishing those reading lists is the job of each individual district, said Jim Foster , communications director for the S.C. Department of Education . He said the state does not provide any requirements, but it does feature a suggested reading list, which can be found on the state department of education's website.
