CTA looking out for only itself in charter school fight
In its latest self-serving maneuver, the California Teachers Association wants to make it much more difficult to launch new public charter schools. California has 910 active charter schools. Under current law, they can be authorized by a local school board, a county board of education or the state Board of Education. This offers the type of flexibility that's needed for the experimental schools.
