Former Lakeland School goes for $320,000 at auction

Two bidders putting their heads and money together came up with the high bid of $320,000 Wednesday afternoon to purchase the former Lakeland Elementary School and all its acreage on Route 800. Alan L. Miller of Penny Triple II in Holmesville purchased just over 50 wooded acres and the mineral rights, and Roger and Christine Gilpin of Freeport bought the building at 77520 Freeport-Tippecanoe Road (Route 800) and 19.75 acres. Miller declined to answer questions regarding his business.
