Memphis public school teachers fear their careers at stake if unions banned

Last week, a bill that would eliminate collective bargaining through teachers' unions passed in the state Senate Education Committee. Another bill has been introduced in the state House to end payroll deduction of public-sector union dues. Keith Williams, president of the 6,300-member Memphis Education Association, affiliated with the state and national organizations, is lining up buses to get teachers to Nashville for a rally against the bills March 5.
