Staring into the illuminated screen of one of the 184 Chromebooks that Longwood lent students whose families didn’t have computers, she began to fret about her device-sharing family’s limited internet access. Haunted and driven by a “fear of failure” that she has felt since childhood, Ms. Kelly is now a leading contender for Longwood Prep’s Class of 2020 valedictorian. She hopes her remote-learning experience gets easier.
