Texas launches funding initiative for students with disabilities

Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Education Agency officials on Wednesday announced the creation of the Supplementary Special Education Services program, which will provide up to $1,500 to families of children with severe cognitive disabilities to get supplemental education services, including tutoring, therapy or digital resources. Abbott is allocating $30 million for the effort from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund, part of the federal CARES Act.
