Whether the subject is geography, poetry, history or physics, a dose of technology goes a long way toward engaging students, according to teachers and youngsters at the Durham public school system's Technology Showcase on Monday. Eno Valley Elementary School teacher Rose Clark uses Google Maps to teach land forms to her fifth-graders. She said it's a great way to show students the impact of events like the recent earthquake in Japan by comparing images of land dating back 30-40 years. Technology is essential in today's classroom, she said.
