South Sioux City students post gains but still lag behind state averages

Students in South Sioux City Schools showed improvements in elementary school reading and math on a recent statewide test, but they still lag behind Nebraska averages. The scores, released Wednesday, were from the Nebraska State Accountability test. States must give the tests to receive federal education funding through the No Child Left Behind Act, a program that identifies students, districts and schools that need improvement.
