School board hopes to bring back teachers [UPDATED]

School board members reiterated their belief that adequate state funding will come from the 2011 Minnesota State Legislature. The 2010-11 school year officially ends June 30, 2011. As predicted, the school board approved on Monday the unrequested leave for the 22 probationary teachers as well as the unrequested leave for eight full-time equivalent positions. Unrequested leave action is taken, when necessary, in compliance with Minnesota statutes. The situation for Fergus Falls School District 544 is similar to others. Placing teachers on unrequested leave is normal procedure this time of year. Schools will bring teachers back for the coming year after they determine whether they have adequate funding for 2011-12.
