Portage teachers get some help in their protest of legislation

A teachers rally outside of Willowcreek Middle School on Tuesday afternoon railed against proposed legislation that the instructors see as an assault on public schools. The gathering at Willowcreek Road and Central Avenue intended to relay the message that Indiana legislators have some very hostile plans for public education, said Debora Porter, political action chairwoman for the Portage Association of Teachers, which organized the rally that drew a peppering of supportive honks from the car horns of passing drivers.
