Proposed Cobble Hill charter elementary could put the squeeze on an improving high school

A charter school planned for Brownstone Brooklyn will limit the growth of a high school that bounced back after hitting rock bottom, advocates and teachers charge. The Success Academy Cobble Hill is slated to move into a building on Baltic Street that houses the Brooklyn School for Global Studies, which improved from a failing grade on its city report card to a B last year. Though the 310-student high school currently shares the building with two other schools, there’s still space there for 600 more students - enough for the 570-student elementary charter school. But Community Education Council District 15 head Jim Devor said Global Studies expects to start attracting more students now that its gotten a better grade.
