Parents want options when it comes to school choice, survey shows

Numbers indicate Rhode Island parents want options.There are more than 170 private schools statewide, serving more than 22,000 students. Rhode Island also has 22 charter schools in 10 different host communities serving more than 10,000 students. Demand is high. More than five children applied for every charter school seat last year, according to the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council.
