U.S. standards faze Texas schools

Many failures of many local schools and school districts to meet the federal government's Adequate Yearly Progress goals for 2012 were expected — even predicted — and addressed Wednesday with a weary shrug by local educators, who point to the impossibility of 2014 AYP pass rate requirements of 100 percent. This was the first year that more Texas schools failed than passed the federal AYP standards, a trend that held true locally.
