Hundreds attend meetings about charter schools in the Mt. Diablo district

The Flex charter, which has been conditionally approved by the county Board of Education, is one of two charter schools that has attracted hundreds of interested parents and students at recent meetings, indicating public interest in options not currently available in the Mt. Diablo district. Flex is accepting applications and surveying parents about a possible temporary location at Glenbrook Middle School in Concord, before deciding whether to open in the fall or wait until 2012. It expects to provide 250 students in grades 6 through 12 with an online curriculum in a school setting.
