Lessons at home, homework at school
Stillwater Area Schools is testing the "flipped" concept in six fifth-grade math classrooms over the next five months to see if it improves student achievement. One goal of flipping is to individualize math lessons that usually are taught to the mythical "average" student, said Mike Dronen, the district's technology coordinator. Instead of teachers standing in front of about 25 students and hoping they all understand the material, students can go over the lesson at their own pace at home and get help from their teacher in class.
