County learns lesson in 'No Child' expectations

Under NCLB, schools are required to increase what’s called Adequate Yearly Progress, or AYP, each year. NCLB requires 100 percent of students be proficient in reading and math by the 2013-2014 academic year. AYP is measured by a school or district’s annual performance in math and reading on standardized tests. Each state’s benchmarks and what is tested are different.
