Nooks, Not Paper Books

Gaither hopes its students get hooked on books by reading them on Nooks

Gaither High School hopes to turn more students into regular readers by stocking the media center with a cartful of Nooks. Reading coach Patricia Albrecht said the Gaither faculty always is trying ways to help students become more successful, and technology plays a big role in motivating the teens. "It's 21st-century students, and they like 21st-century technology," Albrecht said. "We need to get kids reading again. They're not reading, and we need to motivate them to read. We wanted to make reading cool."
