CU-Boulder initiative promotes K-12 school diversity

A new initiative housed at the National Education Policy Center at the University of Colorado will focus on promoting school diversity and student achievement. He said schools have become increasingly segregated by ethnicity and income over the last 20 years as desegregation has ceased to be a main focus of reform efforts. In the Boulder Valley School District, for example, low-income and minority elementary students generally are concentrated in a few schools. Two Boulder Valley elementary schools enroll about 80 percent minority students.
