Column: After Christie’s neglect, a good fix on school funding

Over the last eight years under Gov. Chris Christie, New Jersey's system of funding public schools broke down into complete dysfunction. He cut state aid in his first budget, then left it nearly frozen for several years as local costs continued to climb. And as legislators fought parochial battles to win local advantage, the system became wildly unfair, with some districts getting much more than they deserve and others much less.
