Fuller Coverage Needed For Online Learning

The Cactus Shadows High School blended online-learning program has proved so popular that the district is adding an evening version. The eLearning program began last fall with 20 students taking online courses in a classroom with a teacher. Soon there was a waiting list, and over the Christmas break, the school removed a wall and added 13 more seats to the program. Last month, the Cave Creek Unified School District governing board approved PASS, which stands for Positive Alternative for Successful Students. A condensed curriculum will be used, and 10 students will attend class for four hours in the evening, using the same computer lab the eLearning students use during the day. Like the eLearning students, the PASS graduates can earn a Cactus Shadows diploma.
