Lafayette schools adopt new grading scale

All public school students in Lafayette Parish will have to abide by a 4.0 grade point average scale, even if they take AP courses or take an AP exam. School officials had proposed shifting the GPA scale to a 4.5 for AP classes, and a 5.0 scale for students who took an AP exam. Such courses are more difficult and more advanced than traditional high school courses. By taking them, high school students can earn college credits and possibly be in line for more scholarships. State officials require all public high schools to offer such courses.
