Protestors gather outside US DOE pushing for stop to school closings nationwide. Budget shortfalls, competition from charters cited as reasons for closures. Told little research exists on impact closings have on achievement, but untold impact keeping inferior schools open has on student success. Is protest really about students, or more about adults losing jobs when schools close?
